Reaching the Canadian Market

Jim Byers
Travel Columnist and Consultant
(Former) Travel Editor for the Toronto Star

Jim spent five years as Travel Editor at the Toronto Star. It is not only the largest paid circulation newspaper in Canada but has the largest travel section in North America, with two sections averaging more than 20 pages each week.

Jim made choices every day affecting destinations and hotels and attractions in North America and around the world. He knows what it takes to get the attention of an editor distracted by emails, tweets, Instagram updates and phone calls. He knows what photographs get an editor's attention and which get spiked at first sight. He knows what kind of press releases get read and which sink into that dreaded morass known as the bottom of the email in-basket.

Steve Yencich
Executive Director
Michigan Lodging & Tourism Association

The Michigan Lodging & Tourism Association was formed in 1905 and has undergone a variety of name changes. While the names have changed, its focus never has. MLTA has always been the only statewide trade association advocating for Michigan's lodging and tourism industries.

MLTA represents hundreds of hotels, motels, resorts, and bed & breakfasts, comprising over 50,000 guest rooms. MLTA membership also includes categories for allied/suppliers, convention and visitor bureaus, colleges and universities, students, attractions and transportation operators.
